miserable

I've had the most vicious head and chest cold for about three days now and it's knocking me on my ASS. My chest noises are unlike anything I've previously experienced. It's not COVID per the test but I'll test again today just in case.

The rest of my life is actually going okay so this cold is taking up all of my spare cycles. Just hating this. Gurgle murmur sigh squeak goes my chest. Could be walking pneumonia? Anyway if my sats go below 92 and stay there I'll go to hospital but as long as I'm getting enough oxygen I'm staying the hell away.

A return

Lots of course has changed since 1918, I mean 2018, but the biggest one is that I wasn't doing too well in terms of my health at the start of the pandemic and it's definitely gotten worse since. I now have to take a small handful of pills every day to regulate the consequences of a lifetime of having a terrible relationship with food.

I've written a bunch of SF novels but I'm not feeling the final edits and I can't get a Coast Salish person to accept money to look at the books and comment on whatever I've done wrong, so the edits have every possibility of being both extensive and ongoing. I'd like a little certainly so I stopped.

I have a new grandson, Ryker, born November 17; poor tyke has a horrid cold at the moment but his anxious mother says that there's no fever so who knows if it's the dreaded plague.

Tom died, and it was miserably sad, but we gave him a good send off, in my view.

I've been training my brother's cat, Buster, and he's ready to get a communication board. He can understand about 18 words so I think we're going to have a good time with it.

I'm still living very comfortably with my brother. My parents are both doing well. I'm still writing tunes, now on a keyboard, to shake things up. Apart from how much snow we're getting in the PNW, I have few complaints.

beautiful birthday month

Except for that one.... little.... thing....

I was let go from a really great job mid-last month. I have people to talk to about it so I won't talk about it here, but it was in virtually every respect the perfect job for me, and losing it has made me unusually thoughtful.

Never mind that, though. My birthday month contained lovely walks, help with various projects, watching my friend put up an indoor sauna in his apartment and then getting to use it, (aahhhhh!), a housebakefilk at Peggy and Tom's, a steak dinner courtesy of my bro, a quick visit to the parents plus other rellies thanks to my son, a gift box of Oblique Strategies, watching a hilariously cheesy Turkish costume drama thanks to a recommendation from twitter, my youngest child's 30th birthday, also her buying me a burger and shake, flying through 1000 kudos for my fanfic on A03, starting to go to Osteofit (finally exercise classes I can stand), the commencement of biscotti baking, hitting 50k words on the next novel in the series even though I'm going to have to completely rip this one apart and restack it....

There was a lot of grief but a lot that's marvellous too.

Happy New Year!

Haven't posted here in quite a while.

I've written a bunch of books since then. My brother is being an incredible help getting them published; the first one goes on Leanpub as soon as he's happy with the cover and the colophon.

I'm going to Conflikt 10, after saying I wouldn't. Hotel booked and reg paid for, plus the lunch, I couldn't manage not going to the lunch!

I am currently in and trying to escape from a job after being unemployed for 3.5 years. (I resigned and got dragged back in because the supervisor rage quit while I was on shift waiting for him to show up and relieve me.) I know I can work; I can't put up with the bullshit, which is sad in and of itself, since capitalizm wants me to feel bad about it and I'm so well trained I try to oblige. Told my ersatz stuporvisor that I can't work at the end of the month.

My mood, now that I know I'm going to Conflikt, is much better.

Wrote a thousand words today. Back in the swing after a lazy holiday week.
